1. GENERAL CONDITIONS

1.1 The competition is open to choreographers of any dance style and nationality who are between 18 and 30 in 2011 (including those with birthdays in that year).

1.2 The winner of the II ROSETA MAURI CHOREOGRAPHY AWARD will receive 2000 euros and a contract with the Fundació Teatre Fortuny to produce the winning piece. The financial prize will be subject to any tax deductions required by law. The prize will be paid via bank transfer into the account number provided by the contestant to the organisation.

1.3 The choreographic pieces presented may not have been previously performed. Choreographers may enter one piece only.

1.4 Choreographic pieces can have a maximum of seven performers. The pieces will last a maximum of 15 minutes. Performances exceeding this time limit will be disqualified.

1.5 The panel of judges will be comprised of national and international dance professionals and experts.

1.6 Choreographies will be judged on the following criteria: originality, inventive capacity, implementation of choreographic ideas, the use of choreographic and dance language, the use of stage space, music, stage elements and performers, and the coherency between the overall choreographic concept and what is seen on stage. The potential of the creators competing will also be taken into account.

1.7 Choreographers must send a video or DVD of the entire piece with all the performers to II PREMI COREOGRÀFIC ROSETA MAURI, Teatre Fortuny, Plaça Prim 4, 43201 REUS, ESPAÑA. The deadline for receiving videos and documentation is 14th January, 2011.

1.8 Choreographies must be recorded on VHS or DVD and not be cut, edited or have any special effects. Choreographers must send their curriculum vitae and a brief summary of their piece along with the video or DVD. A written copy of any text or dialogue in the piece must also be attached. Choreographers must fill in and sign the attached pre-selection form, which forms part of these rules, with as much detail as possible and include the information requested in the Technical Details section. A special committee, which will include members of the panel of judges, will carry out the pre-selection.

1.9 The organisers of II Roseta Mauri Choreography Award will send out the results of the pre-selection to choreographers from January, 2011. Videos and DVDs of unselected pieces will not be returned.

1.10 Choreographers and all performers involved in the selected entries must be present while the competition is in progress.

1.11The organisers will not be responsible for any injuries to participants that occur during the competition (participants must be adequately insured). The FUNDACIÓ TEATRE FORTUNY will, however, provide participants with a personal physiotherapist>.

2. TECHNICAL DETAILS

2.1 Due to space and time limitations, lighting and stage design must be kept to a minimum. Stage elements must be able to be quickly set up.

2.2 Choreography music must be recorded on minidisk and on CD to ensure a back-up copy is available if needed.

2.3 Choreographers must give written notice of all the props and elements that will be used on stage and any element that may stain the floor (liquids, etc). Choreographers will be held responsible for any damage to the theatre that may occur during the performance of their piece.

2.4 The use of fire, cigarettes and candles in the theatre is strictly prohibited.

2.5 The companies will be responsible for the transportation of everything needed for the choreographies.

2.6 The competition will take place on the Teatre Fortuny stage which has a width of 9.10m, a depth of 10m and an inclination of 5%. A general theatre spotlight and a blue cyclorama backdrop will be used during the competition.
