    Arcadi Carbonell

    Director and professor of dance in the Real Conservatorio de Madrid.
    He has been professor of classical Ballet in the Real Conservatorio de Danza Clásica de Madrid, since 1970, professor at the Vassar College, Pouhkeepsie of New York and he is a member of the International Group of Professor of the Royal Academy of Dancing in London. He has numerous academic degrees. He has attended more than thirteen course. He has taught several improvement classes to professors and pupils. In his curriculum, it gives especial mention for his contribution to Spanish Festivals (1970) or performances such as Giselle, Coppelia, The Swan Lake by the Royal Academy of Dancing.

    Among his performances, stands out his roles as a main dancer in the Sylphs in 1967 at the Theatre Calderon de la Barca, in 1968, as main dancer in El Carnaval, at the Calderon de la Barca, in 1971, Acts as main dancer in The Emperor’s concert and Carmina Burana at the Roman Theatre of Mérida, in 1972, He performs the second act of Swan lake at the Barberini Palace in Rome, for the Acadèmia Arte nel Mondo Leonardo DaVinci.

    He has worked in 45 choreographies, some as famous as the Clear Moon Symphony of Beethoven (1967), the III act of the Lake of Swans (1969), the II act of the Sleeping beauty (1970), the Ravel bolero (1983) and la Danza del Fuego de Falla (1996), among others.

    Susan Jaffe

    Prima Ballerina of the American Ballet Theatre of New York.

    She is Prima Ballerina in the American Ballet Theatre of New York. Mijail Barishnikov, Director of Art of the mentioned ballet, in 1980, bets for a transformation of the Ballet Theatre of New York with the idea of promoting its aesthetics and techniques and adds Jaffe in its repertoire of dancers.

    Susan Jaffe, from this moment, receives positive reviews of her exceptional performances in important roles like Odette/Odile in a Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Swanhilda in Coppelia, etc.

    She has worked and performed several repertoires of the most famous choreographers of the XX century, including the works of George Balanchine (Apolo, Mozartiana, Ballet Imperial, Violon Concert, La Sonanbula), the works of Anthony Tudor (The Garden of Kyres, Gala Performance, etc.), the works of Kenneth Macmillan (Manon, the Sleeping Beauty, etc), the works of Jerome Robbins, etc.

    Her many European commitments include performances in the Royal Ballet, The Kirov Ballet, The Stutgart Ballet, The Munic State Opera Ballet, The Royal Danish Ballet, and the English National Ballet.

    She appeared in many television productions, for instance: Dance in America, Angie in 1994 with Geena Davis and the Documentary of ballet, directed by Federick Wiseman, in 1995.

    Elisabeth Platel

    Dancer and professor of dance in the opera of Paris.

    She began her studies in the Conservatoire of Saint-Germain-en Laye. Afterwards, she whent to the National Superior Conservatoire of Music in Paris where she was awarded with a First prizen 1975. This recognition helped her to join the School of dance of the Opera of Paris. A year after, Elisabeth Platel became a member of the Ballet of the Opera (1977) and in 1978, she got the silver medal in the International Contest of Varna. Her successful career allowed her, a year after, to become Prima Ballerina of the Ballet of the Opera.

    In this way, Elisabeth Platel played her first roles as a soloist with the ballets of George Balanchine (Divertimento number 15, Les Quatre Tempéraments), with Maurice Béjart and as a partenaire of Jean Babilé with the choreography Life, created in the Opera in June of 1979. She played important roles in the Swan Lake, the Sylphide, Giselle, in this last occasion the dancer got the nomination d’Etoile, the 23rd of Decenber in 1981.

    Elisabeth Platel has danced the most outstanding roles in the world of dance. She has always strongly defended the classical style of the French School based on elegance, refinement, but also accepting the good forms of the contemporary dance.

    Gailene Stock

    Director of the Royal Ballet School

    Gailene Stock was initially educated in Australia and afterwards, in the Royal Ballet Upper School, thanks to a grant given by the Royal Academy of Dance.

    She danced as a main character in The Australian Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and in The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and in The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, playing most of the main roles in Classical plays and also other dramatic works. With an experience of 16 years being a dancer, Gailene Stock accepted the job as a Director of the National Theatre Ballet School Victorian of Australia, and stayed moret han 8 years, and of the Australian Ballet School during 9 years before becoming the Director of the Royal Ballet School.

    In 1997, she received the order of Australia (a medal) for her dedication to dancing. She is internationally considered for her knowledge and experience in the world of dance. She has been member of jury in lots of international contests of dance, including The Prix de Lausanne, The Diaghilev International Ballet Competition Of moscow, The Asian Pacific Ballet Competition of Tokyo and Japan Grand Prix of Sapporo.

    Mark Silver

    Trained at the Royal Ballet School, he finished his dance studies in 1973. He joined the Royal Ballet Company that same year, where he became Soloist and Principal dancer. His repertory included all the major classical roles (The Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Sylphide, Giselle, etc.), as well as choreographies by more contemporary authors such as Ashton, Macmillan, Balanchine, Cranko, Van Manen, Bintlesy, etc.

    He has been Principal with the Pittsburg Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet Company and London Festival Ballet Company, and guest artist at the Birmingham Royal Ballet Company, Canadian National Ballet, Teatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro, Tokio Asami Maki Ballet, Oslo Den Norske Opera, Ballet Concierto of Puerto Rico and at the Ballet Festival of Sintra (Portugal), among others.

    He has also participated in several videoproductions with the Royal Ballet.

    Teacher at internationally renowned schools and companies such as the Royal Ballet Upper School, the Rambert Dance Company, The Boston Ballet and the Portugal National Ballet, he also colaborates in a great quantity of courses all over the world.

    Lynn Wallis

    Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Dance
    Lynn Wallis graduated from the Royal Ballet Senior School in 1965 into the Royal Ballet Touring Company, becoming Ballet Mistress at the school in 1969, a position she held until 1982, when she was made Deputy Principal. During this time she reproduced a great many ballets from classical repertoire for the school performances at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and other venues. In 1984, at the invitation of Erik Bruhn, she joined the National Ballet of Canada, as Artistic Co-ordinator, and in 1986 she became Associate Artistic Director, with Valerie Wilder, and Co-Artistic Director from 1987 to 1989. In 1990, she was appointed Deputy Artistic Director of English National Ballet with special responsibility for Mid-scale touring, the Education and Community Unit, Choreographic workshop and English National Ballet School.

    Lynn Wallis joined the Royal Academy of Dance in 1994 as Artistic Director and is responsible for setting and maintaining the standards of dance training world-wide, developing the Academy’s Syllabus and planning courses internationally for students. In 2001 she became Chair of the RAD’s Board of Examiners. Lynn was appointed Honorary President of the Greek region of the RAD in June 2000. More recently she has been involved in the introduction of the new marking system and the accreditation of RAD examinations by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in England and its partner regulatory authorities in Wales and Northern Ireland.

    Lynn was chairman of an artistic panel of dance professionals who wrote The Foundations of Classical Ballet Technique and was instrumental in leading the artistic panel in writing the sequel, The Progressions of Classical Ballet Technique. In 2001 Lynn was nominated and short-listed for the European Women of Achievement Awards.

    Anna Sanchez

    Contemporary dance teacher
    Trained in classical, jazz and contemporary dance (Limon and Graham), her style combines the technique, expression and the energy changes in order to achieve good freedom in movement.

    She has a way to work in which either a glance, a small gesture, a difficult turn, a great jump or a fall are equally important.

    Director of the Anna Sánchez Companyia de Dansa from 1985 to 1990, she is now Director of the Companyia Inconnexa, founded in 2002, and of the Varium School of Dance of Barcelona since 1987.

    She is the Artistic Director of the International Dance Festival of Sant Cugat since 2000. She has worked and still does at many international courses all over Europe. Furthermore, she colaborates as a guest teacher at the schools of Epsedanse (Montpeller), Cafedanse (Ais de Provença) and James Carles (Tolosa of Llenguadoc). She has also worked as a guest teacher in different companies such as S.O.A.P (Rui Horta), Metros (Ramon Oller), Marta Carrasco, Trànsit (Maria Rovira), Mar Gómez, Norrdanse (Sweden) and Ballet Preljocaj (France).

    Due to her teaching experience, she has been granted the recognition of the French Ministry of Culture, being allowed to give classes at the official conservatoires of dance of all the country.

    Josu Gallastegui

    Pianist

    He studied music in the Conservatoire of Bilbao, where he was awarded with a first prize in the International Contest of Piano.

    He continued his studies of piano in Caracas, and finally finished them in the University of Indiana,USA. He has played as a soloist in the most important Symphonic Orchestras of Central and South America, and also the Symphonic Orchestra of Bilbao. He went on long tours around Europe and the Soviet Union.

    In the United States of America, he has performed at the Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Centre, Cami Hall, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and also in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Francisco.

    He has also worked as a pianist at the American Ballet Theatre, Dance Theatre of Harlem. During long periods of time he accompanied the dancers and choreographers such as: Mikhail Baryshnikov, Alexandra Danílova, Anna Sokolov, Jerome Robbins, etc.

    Among his recordings, we emphasize some CD music for Ballet and series entitled “Valses Venezolanos”.
